COLOMBIA (AP) The government says it plans to install about 1,000 solar panels atop buildings in Colombia’s capital city, as it tries to reduce carbon emissions.
The country’s Ministry of Economy and Energy says the project is part of efforts to reduce CO2 emissions by 20 percent over the next five years.
Officials say the project will be complete by the end of 2019.
More than 6 million Colombians live in high-rise buildings.
Most of them live in the city of Bogota, which is the country’s economic capital and home to Colombia’s most powerful political party, the leftist FARC.
