‘Weird Al’ Yankovic’s ‘Weeks of Summer’ is nominated for best music video category at SXSW 2018

After his nomination for the best music audio video category was announced earlier this week, Weird Al Yankovich had a message for his critics: Stop saying it’s not a “classic” song.

The Grammy-winning musician’s latest video for “Weeks” has won the top award at the SXSW Music Awards, but it also won’t be out on the big screens anytime soon.

The Oscar-nominated film is one of just a handful of videos that have been nominated for a Best Music Video Grammy award since the Grammy Awards were first introduced in 1997, which has been a boon for music videos.

“It’s a very small number of people who have been making great music videos,” Yankiewicz said in a statement.

“The vast majority of our videos are really great, and we are very thankful to be nominated for this.”
