At least eight people died in clashes with police after authorities tried to control protests that were underway in Macedonia’s eastern region of Kosovo.

The United States said on Monday it had confirmed an attack on the U.S. embassy in the Albanese capital of Tirana on October 11, 2018.

A U.N. investigation has also said that violence broke out after the U and the United Nations Security Council imposed sanctions against Serbia and Montenegro, which have been accused of supporting the rebels in Syria.

In a statement, the State Department said that U.K. and Serbian officials were working to “strengthen and support efforts to bring the perpetrators of the attack to justice.”

The United Nations investigation into the attack has also found that the authorities in Macedonia, who are allied with Russia and its separatist movement, “facilitated and enabled” the attacks.

The report also said the attack on U.R.S., which is based in Britain, “was carried out in a manner that appeared to be aimed at disrupting the diplomatic process and the activities of the U (Serbian) Embassy in the United Kingdom.”
